Picspam: Zhu Yilong & Bai Yu & Opposites

For the free square on my Guardian Bingo card, I wanted to make a self-indulgent picspam along the lines of this Zhubai thread. marycrawford suggested I do opposites (desert/water, buzz cut/long hair, very dressed/partly undressed, etc.) instead of trying to find matchy-matchy pics, and here's the result! No desert, alas, but I amused myself with smol bag/big bag. :-D

My fave is the Bai-Yu-in-grey-sweater vs Zhu-Yilong-in-the-dark combination, but they're all brilliant!

Aaah, j'adore! I've said it before but you have such an eye, and these are all SO tasty.

I love how they're facing away or facing each other, a contrast in several ways - the blue skies and umbrella combination! BY in red smiling adorably versus Z1L at his most worldweary. (BY has the most adorable, genuine-feeling smile in the world, IMO.) The drink/noodle slurp combo made me guffaw.

I love love this combination and YES this is totally the Black Butler vibe. That fic sent me into a tailspin of watching the anime/reading the manga, but oh my, Bai Yu as the brat and Shen Wei as the demon butler will never pall.
ETA: you are talking about a different fic I think? Sorry, brain fuzzy. But the photos probably work for both :D

Yes, different fic! I've never read Black Butler (seen? is it a show or book? idk that much about it 😅) but maybe that helped inspire Tethysian's Twill Seeker (which is the fic I remixed).

eta: ah, and I see you mention a manga (neither of our brains are their best today apparently lol)

Thank you! <3 I love that Lunar New Year shoot; Bai Yu looks so joyful and so handsome! And it worked nicely with the much less smiley (but still incredibly handsome) Long-ge. ☺️

I wanted to play around with reflections and glass, and was so happy that the green hues sort of matched! Bad boy and fancy gentleman. :-D And thank you! <3

Thank youuuu! <333 I loved playing around with this idea and finding different contrasts. The "listlessly drinking vs. enthusiastically eating" was a lucky find. :-D And gosh yes, Bai Yu totally has the most joyous, crinkly smiles! He doesn't get to show them nearly enough in photoshoots.

The delicious Black Butler fic that immediately sprang to my mind (and I promise you don't need to know anything about the manga/anime at all) where Shen Wei is Zhao Yunlan's demon butler: Follow You Everywhere

These are gorgeous. I think I'd take Bai Yu in leather jacket/Zhu Yilong in maroon velvet if I had to choose, or maybe the one where they're both leaning against trees...lovely. (Also kind of makes me sad that Bai Yu gets to smile so much more often! Photographers, make more use of Zhu Yilong's smile!)

The tree pair was a serendipitous find. <3 Zhu Yilong looks so relaxed there, he should get to have way more vacations. And the distribution of smiles is indeed very uneven, and it's not like Bai Yu gets to smile a ton in his shoots either! Not enough Long-ge smiles by far. :-(

To make up for it, I just found these from his 2021 LNY shoot with his favorite photographer. I guess LNY is happy times!
