And also, a random camping-themed (?) video I can't find any context for, but I'm very into his very smooth legs? Did he shave for this? And lastly, a comfy daddy photoshoot on XHS, which I also can't place.

And there we are!

In less happy news, apparently there was a huge kerfuffle when Wang Yang got nominated for a Magnolia Award for his role in War of Faith AND WANG YIBO DID NOT.

Oh no!Like, the Wang Yibo fans just went completely berserk? Accused the War of Faith people of only submitting Wang Yang for consideration, EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T HAVE A LEAD ROLE!!! HE WAS ONLY A SUPPORTING ACTOR!!!!! Like, did you even watch the show? I think there were also some accusations that Shen Tunan didn't follow the politically correct character arc, so he didn't even deserve an award! (Don't ask me for details, I'm very fuzzy on the entire thing.)

Wang Yibo had to make a statement about it, the poor guy. Wang Yang posted a one-liner too, and let me tell you. It ENRAGED the Yibo fans. Apparently it was arrogant and immature, while their blorbo was being gracious and professional. (Wang Yang has now pinned the post, which is a level of pettiness I can respect.)

He and his studio went completely silent for a while there, but have since started posting again. Well, have both made one post each. (Gotta sell that beer!) I hope he'll be okay, but sheesh. Scary fandom!

Hee!

OMG. I hate this kind of nonsense so much.

Oh my gosh, so many gorgeous photos. ♥___♥ All of these are new to me, thank you so much for sharing. Bookmarking this so I'll remember to go through and save all the pictures next time I'm on my laptop (and not this ancient PC that can barely load Weibo without freezing). The pictures you shared here are all SO PRETTY.

Like, the Wang Yibo fans just went completely berserk?

Good lord, wtf is wrong with people? Like, genuinely, why wouldn't they assume Wang Yibo himself would be happy for his co-star in this situation? Why would they assume he'd want his fans to be jerks about the nomination on his behalf?? I'd expect dealing with that kind of fan reaction would suck a lot more for Wang Yibo than not getting an award nomination. :/

Honestly respect for Wang Yang's Weibo post. I'm kind of surprised by him standing his ground like that, but props to him for it. Hope things turn out okay. Scary fandom indeed. :|

Ah, I would love a link to your Dropbox if you're willing to share! :D

but also fuck it, you know?

Yeah, totally agree. It's sad that the whole thing probably does mean he won't win the award now, though. :( I guess there are downsides to being cast in a show with a lead actor who's too popular! At least if anyone dares to give you more publicity than your more popular co-star for three seconds. :P

Aww, I'm glad to hear Become a Farmer got nominated! I've still only seen the Wang Yang bits, but it seems like a really neat show. Very nice for them to get a nomination! <3

Thank you, thank you for the photos and links! ♥____♥ Guh, that blue suit looks divine on him. And then the InStyle Women of Times event pics he looks so adorable! The camping video is kind of hilarious. XD But wow: LEGS! The comfy daddy photoshoot looks like he's modeling a line of clothes? Dang, he looks AMAZING in the beer ad.

Ugggggh, no, a kerfuffle!?! Such a nasty side of fans, anywhere, and it makes my blood run cold. What Wang Yibo's fans hope(d) to accomplish is beyond me. I hope both Wang Yang and Wang Yibo emerge unscathed.

Become a Farmer 2 was nominated??! Yay! <3

jiejies have no taste if they do not see him as the Supreme Gege and fall all over him. it's funny too bc in the states anyway, giving a nomination to a *younger* actor would be the controversy; you sort of assume the older actor has been doing this for longer and is therefore more worthy. but it sucks if he might not win now. but at least he has his beautiful wife and darling bébé, and a metric ton of earth-shatteringly gorgeous photos of himself. or no, wait; that's us.

(Butting in, sorry!)

You know, now that you mention it, to me the odd thing about this is that I've mostly been told exactly the opposite -- that China is the place where they would absolutely never give the nomination to a younger actor. The topic even came up briefly in a show Wang Yang was in, Crossroad Bistro -- there's a whole argument among some filmmakers in the show about whether or not it's acceptable to cast a seasoned older actor in a drama but not make him the lead, and whether the actor in question should feel offended about it and refuse the role despite needing the work. I also remember one Chinese guy I was talking with during a language-exchange chat who went on at some length about how he thought casting a younger actor as the star in a movie with a popular older actor would be unthinkable in China because a deep respect for elders is baked into the culture (which he wanted me to understand was very different from the way Western culture doesn't really confer respect based on age), so in China, unlike in the US, if two actors are at a similar level of fame, the older star will always get the lead role. (According to the guy I was talking to.)

In practice I haven't noticed this to be at all true in terms of how Chinese shows really cast actors. It certainly seems like younger stars get plenty of lead roles even in shows with popular older actors, either because the younger star has more fangirls or just because the creators wanted the lead to be a handsome romantic youth and not a cool but scruffy old guy. But I've at least been told that culturally it's supposed to work the opposite way, with everyone showing proper respect to the older guy. Which does just add even more wtf-ness to the whole idea of fans getting mad about an older actor being nominated while the younger actor isn't!

Thank you for the lovely pictures! His smile.
(also omigod, why is c-ent like this, why do some people play fandom like a zero-sum game. Good for Yang-ge for holding his ground, let's hope there are no nasty repercussions.)
