These are all the things I would classify as a fanwork that I made in 2023. One thing I didn't include was my chapter for sef1029's podfic project Dreamtime: A Rainy Night at the Apartment with Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan, because to me the performance was the fanwork and the words were just the raw material. It's all fanworks! 😊 And a lot of these fics were very short! 2023 was totally the year I discovered the drabble format for me. Love a drabble! Very doable even if you don't have a lot of time or mental energy for big fics. All the mental energy goes into the fiddly word count instead. :-D

Oh, since you mentioned picspams! I wanted to do one for my free square, so if you have ideas for a Long-ge or Zhubai theme I haven't done yet, do make a request. <3

Ooh I love your picspams and I really really want to come up with a good theme idea!! But of course that was too much pressure and my brain caved in under it, so let me get back to you when I'm awake :D

Haha, no pressure! If neither of us can think of anything exciting, I'll try and do an updated version of the original Zhubai picspam, although I really need to save all the recent pics first. Ah, the hardship. :-D

Ooh the original picspam is so pretty - that second shot, the way Z1L looks to the side, HELP. Maybe on a similar Zhubai theme but opposites? Like: BY extremely dressed, Z1L extremely undressed (for him), BY in the desert, Z1L in the water, BY with long warrior hair, Z1L with his shaven head...

Gosh I spent a good while scrolling through your past picspams and loving them all so much. 🥰 You have such an eye!

A Z1L picspam that would probably be a hassle to create, but in case you like the idea:
"ZYL’s characters are like isohedral shapes he maintains in his mind; you can feel the shape when you look at his face. You’ll never make a mistake about the character you see in his face because the shape is too obvious." A theme where you can't see the costuming or BTS or it's a closeup - but you can still tell which character he's playing purely from his face. Though given how much his hair chaanges, that might not be as difficult as I think?

Ohhhh, I love that idea with the opposites, I think I can do that! 😍

From that Tumblr post: But ZYL is playing him as someone almost entirely about the interiority - someone who has no awareness of or interest in his own face as an object of beauty.

What an intriguing analysis, and yeah I can see it! The scowl, the anger, the utterly guileless baby Shen Wei smiles. Shen Wei has a lot of feelings he's pushing down for most of his waking hours, but they're never fully hidden. (Thinking about this in the context of his suits; the blue Kunlun colors and the huggy tightness could also be about how the clothes make him feel and not about being seen as a stylish person. 🤔 Hm hm hm.)

I will think about the idea and see if I can make a quiz/picspam happen, but I think it would end up more about context clues like hair or background than acting choices, which are easier to discern in motion. But like, looking at Chen Yiming and Jing Ran stills, you can definitely see differences!
