I finally watched Long-ge's manic pixie dream boy movie over the weekend, and I think I'd have to watch it again to have some more interesting things to say about it, but here's some random thoughts anyway:

(1) My wishlist has been posted, whee! I wanted to do it in hard mode and come up with fresh likes and prompts without consulting my previous posts, which was clearly a silly idea. But the general section is much more concise now. 😄

(2) I have signed up for a card in the Summer Fic Reading Challenge and have started reading things! I really don't read a lot, certainly not books and only fics I can do in one sitting. So, reading and commenting is happening now, and it feels nice. (I'm allowing myself meta as well, if it works for the prompt. It's fannish words!)


(3) Zhu Yilong and the rest of the Land of Broken Heart cast did a concert by the beach two weeks ago and wow, it was An Experience. He looked so happy and radiant and relaxed and also ARMS. O_O I had no idea going in what the hell was happening, and I'm still not sure whose idea this was and what Glass Man is (maybe a fashion magazine?), but it happened and it was such a joy to watch (with some filler). * Around the 1:50 mark in the YouTube video, Wen Shipei gives Long-ge a little kissie on the cheek, and Qiu Tian (who apparently just plays herself in the movie) does excited heart hands behind them. Later on, they drag Peng Guanying on stage, which you can see in the full recording. It was a wild night. 🍹🍹🍹

2) The database now contains 303 shoots; the actual 300th was all the pictures I could find of Zhu Yilong's 2023 trip to Kenya with his favorite photographer. His studio will probably post some more, but gosh the BOYFRIEND PICS BOYFRIEND PICS stuff they've already shared with us.

Interpreting yet another Guardian Bingo prompt in the absolutely loosest sense possible, hi. 😊 I made an icon set of actors who've worked with Zhu Yilong and/or Bai Yu to fill the Alliance square, using official photoshoots and magazine shots. A little army of beautiful friends, if you will.

Long time no see, here's some current things:

The tomb franchise got me. 😔 Had to watch Reboot for the blorbo, of course, entirely convinced that I'd finish all 62 episodes and move on with my life. And then I had to go and watch Ultimate Note. And the Heihua movie. Currently halfway through The Lost Tomb 2 (2019) and deep in my Pingxie feelings. I'm mostly vibing with lunarriviera and lurking a bit in the Discord server and doing my silly little Twitter watch threads. Fic has also happened and will be put in a separate post for neatness purposes.

In conclusion, stupid tomb franchise.

Obsessive fannish projects \o/

So, hey, remember when I made a whole seven-page document about Zhu Yilong's various photographers? Felt nice! Neat little research project! Pretty pictures! Data organization!

Anyway, then I signed up for an Airtable account on a whim and created a database to play around with the data and the pictures. That was two months ago and I'm currently up to 211 shoots (67 of Zhu Yilong; 68 of Bai Yu) and 52 photographers. Yes, work has been slow over the summer, but also I guess my brain has really been feeling like organizing things.

guardian_wishlist is happening! I'm definitely going to browse the lists and see if anything sparks a little idea to be turned into a little thing. Haven't written my own wishlist yet, but I can probably reuse most of the last one and add Wu Xie to its cast of Z1L characters. We'll see!


In unrelated news, Good Omens 2, Red, White & Royal Blue, the Barbie movie, and Dungeons & Dragons were all delightful in their own ways.

Just three fourths of the polycule celebrating a Best Actor award, no big deal.

Anyway, now I have five days to also finish this Weilan fic, LET'S GOOOOOOO.

(3) Co-journaller (the other half of mumblemutter) was here from Singapore, and brought with her a rather massive haul of Zhu Yilong merch, most of which I got from carousell.sg (the Depart book with extras and a grab bag of random things plus Thermos item) and some of which was kindly donated/procured by wenella_subs. \o/ BLORBO STUFF!!! \o/

I will try to take another picture with better lighting, but in case you haven't seen it yet, here's the tweet. I have not removed the plastic from the Depart book yet and will probably need someone to handhold me through it when I do, because I'm normal. 😬 The Guardian OST is so pretty!

First of all, I haven't done any writing in October, and by complaining about it here I'm hoping to kick my brain back into writing mode, so: I DON'T LIKE THIS, I WANT TO WRITE AGAIN, WHY IS THIS SO HARD! 😩

- part 7 of Higher Education in which I'm trying to do too many things at once
- a Lighting Up the Stars fic which exists as a loose collection of scenes in my head and refuses to come out
- a (quiet place) D/s scene I've had in my head ever since writing "If you're near" and which I could finally post as an extra if only it was cooperating
